Full Description:
11 year old Maspeth resident, Jennifer Walsh who is a student at Maspeth Elementary, recently traveled to Holland to represent the United States in the World Youth Friendship Games as a member of the People to People Sports Ambassador Organization. Jennifer and her team, beat out strong competition - a total of 52 teams in her 11-15 years division to make it to the final game, where they lost by 6 points to the home team of Holland to take the second place title and the silver.
Jennifer is very proud to have represented her country, her town of Maspeth and herself in another country and would like to thank all of the local merchants and businesses that really went the extra mile for her with contributions that helped to make her dream become a reality. She really feels that her community helped to make this happen and is so glad to have won the silver medal as a tribute to her contributors.
During the competition, Jennifer participated against two other United States teams, Holland, Netherlands, England, Belgium and got to meet athletes from 17 countries.
Locally, Jennifer plays basketball with St. Stans (CYO) and with the Liberty Belles (AAU).
